But that morning the maintenance crew cut-off the water supply to clean the water tank, leaving Hansu in great panic due to the bulk order of rice roll meals for that day. Buying bottled water helped saved their day and the shop bulk orders. They all went up to the family's dining table upstairs to have breakfast. While eating breakfast, their mother reminded Rayeong her share for the rent to be wired over so that they can pay the rent. Junyeong kidded Rayeong to eat meat when she feels crossed. The 27-year old Rayeong tried to bargain with her mom to lower her share in the rent to $100 but Yongshil was firm and told her to go easy buying signature bags and clothes to save up. She laments since his eldest brother Junyeong does not contribute to the rent. Junyeong although the eldest has yet to pass his civil works exam so he can work decently. Junyeong has been flanking the exam now for five years have promised the family he will pass the exam this last time. Minha, their cousin and son of Yongshil's younger brother, Yongshik was eating breakfast with them. Everybody was delighted having eaten a delicious and filling breakfast courtesy of their chef father.
Eating breakfast together as one happy family, they enjoyed Hansu's prepared breakfast of meat, seaweed soup and side dishes. Hyeyeong now goes to work while father and mother with Miyeong helping them remains in the restaurant to continue preparing meals and tend the shop.
The family's eldest daughter, the gorgeous Hyeyeong was a self-made woman who does not sincerely believe in marriage. And as a lawyer working with an ace law firm in the city, she has a very keen focus on cases and legal advices about pre-nuptial and pre-marriage agreements.
One of the family's younger daughter, Miyeong was still onjob haunting thus she has yet to contribute to the rent expense of the family. Likewise, the eldest Junyeong was likewise yet to contribute in paying the rent since he is still a student and is to take the civil work exam soon. Thus, everybody in the family shares and chip in to the family's household expenses.
An Junghui was a struggling actor in the entertainment world. Started with a boy band image, he became obsessed in doing more n acting later yet lacks the natural emotional instinct to perfect his craft. In one of his role practices, his director points out that he needed to feel the emotion of being attached to his father to act accordingly.
This prompted An Junghui to seek out his biological father to fill in the needed emotions that will drive perfection to his career. But, Cha Jeongwan was an entertainment producer who loves to pick about An Junghui's poor acting performance and the two clashes with each other whenever they meet in the eye.
Ms.Oh Bok-nyeo, Jeongwan's mom was a socialite realtor who owns the building where the Byeon's lived. One day Jeongwan's mom unknowingly ran over Yonshil who was trying to prevent Ms.Oh Bok-nyeo park in front of Hansu's snack shop. They had a stiff argument over the parking issue which started the feud between the two families.
Just like an ordinary family, the Byeons have their share of children rivalries and petty strife among them. But their parents have a click way to handle disputes among their children. Whenever the children becomes unruly, they will punish and discipline them by sitting on stool chairs at the rooftop for sometime until they come to realize their mistakes.
An Junghui grew up to be independent as his mom was in the US. He lived alone in his apartment. Although his former girlfriend Hyeonji who was a psychologist tries to secretly snuck sometimes, he preferred living alone with his turtle pet named Al or short for Al Pacino.
Miyeong tried her luck in going for an interview schedule with Gabi Entertainment and was successfully hired as an intern. But before her supposed interview with the agency, she had that first weird yet hilarious encounter with An Junghui at the car park entrance of the building of the agency.
While she was trying to conceal the hole in her socks by shading it with a black pen she borrowed from the car park attendant, An Junghui suddenly appeared and ordered the attendant for his parked car in the lot. The attendant rushed to get the car leaving Miyeong finishing up her concealment of the hole in her socks.
Once finished she mistakenly returned the borrowed pen to An Junghui who was standing by the door of the car park outpost waiting for his car. Miyeong, realizing he was not the attendant requested him to return the pen on he behalf as she thanked him and hurried back to the building for her interview.
That day, Hyeyeong was going for a studio interview as a panel guest of an entertainment show. She left early and got straight to the studio where the interview will b held. Unknown to her, one of the ones who will participate in the interview discussion was her ex-boyfriend, Cha Jungwhan whom she haven't seen for eight years.
